These truths co-exist, they are
'interdependant'.
Relative Truth (Samvriti
satya)
- The conventional 'expression' of Ultimate Truth.
The teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni are an example of Relative Truth.
The words
are a communication of his experience of Ultimate Truth, but not
Ultimate Truth itself.
Ultimate Truth (Paramartha
satya)
- The true nature of Reality.
The
absence of
inherent existence of all phenomena.
Eg; Emptiness,
No 'self'.
The
Two Truths can
be further illustrated using the teaching of Conditionality;
'A being present, B arises, In the absence of A,
B does not arise'.
The words used to communicate this teaching are the Relative
Truth.
It is the actual experience of the true nature of these words that is
the Utimate Truth.
